TRAFFIC ALERT - Northbourne Avenue reduced to two lanes between Morphett and Murdoch Streets from 26 November to 17 December

To accommodate important works in the Northbourne Avenue median, there will be significant traffic changes in place that will affect motorists, pedestrians and cyclists between Morphett and Murdoch Streets from 26 November - 17 December:

  1. Northbourne Avenue south and northbound traffic reduced to two lanes 24-hours-a-day until 17 December - Expect delays.
  2. During weekends the lanes on Northbourne Avenue will be reduced further to one lane, when required.
  3. Pedestrian and cycle traffic crossing between Dickson and Lyneham will be diverted in a 'U' shape around the works on the road behind concrete barriers - Allow additional travel time and exercise caution.
  4. Both the Morphett and Murdoch Street vehicle crossings will be closed throughout these works. -  Detours via the Mouat-Antill Streets and Wakefield-Macarthur Avenue intersections.

Traffic management will be operational and highly visible throughout the works, including signage and personnel.

These works are designed to transform Canberra, making it more accessible and to provide greater commuter connectivity across an integrated public transport network. We appreciate the continued patience of the public and the support of the Canberra community as we carry out these works.
