UPDATE: This work will now take place over two or three nights from Thursday 6 November untill Friday 21 December
Out-of-hours works are required for undertaking a short test to ensure the light rail vehicles (LRVs) can travel through the rail corridor safely. This work involves driving a motorised railcar mover down the tracks, between Murdoch Street and Alinga Street, as it carries a physical profile of an LRV to confirm that there are no obstacles in the way. Hours of work will be 8:00pm to 6:00am on Thursday 15 November and Friday 16 November.
Intersections will be temporarily closed as the rail car mover briefly travels through the intersection. Traffic management will be operational and highly visible throughout the works, including signage and personnel.
The equipment to be used includes light vehicles and the rail car mover.
The project team will ensure the number of machines operating at the same time is limited and equipment turned off when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used* and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum.
These works are designed to transform Canberra, making it more accessible and to provide greater commuter connectivity across an integrated public transport network. We appreciate the continued patience of the public and the support of the Canberra community as we carry out these works.
