Canberra’s first stage of Light Rail is progressing and construction is being finalised. This is an exciting time in our City and Canberra Metro is working hard for Light Rail services to commence.
New traffic signal foundations will be installed at the following intersections on Northbourne Avenue:
- Condamine-Ipima Streets - 21 to 28 September
- Masson-Girrahween Streets - 25 September to 2 October
- Elouera-Gould Streets - 20 to 27 September
- Barry Drive-Cooyong Street - 27 September to 2 October
Hours of work will be 8:00pm to 4:00am each night.
Traffic Management and Detours:
There will be no change for traffic travelling northbound and southbound along Northbourne Avenue during these intersection works.
Local detours will be in place and traffic management will be highly visible throughout the works, including signage and personnel.
The equipment to be used includes a vacuum truck, excavators, a compaction roller and asphalt laying equipment.
Due to the nature of the work, some of the activity will be noisy. The project team will limit these impacts wherever possible by reducing the number of machines operating at the same time and turning off equipment when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum.
Thank you for your patience during these important works.
