Final drainage and asphalt road re-surfacing at the intersection is scheduled during the period beginning Sunday 21 October to Monday 29 October. Hours of work are from 8:00pm to 6:00am each night including the possibility of Sunday day works.
Traffic Management and Detours:
Federal Highway through traffic movement will be maintained in both directions. The Phillip Avenue intersection will be partially closed with limited access only for traffic seeking to enter Federal Highway from Phillip Avenue.
Local detours will be in place and promoted on Canberra Metro’s website. Traffic management will be in place and highly visible throughout the works, including signage and personnel.
The equipment to be used includes: saw cutter, road hammer, light towers, light and heavy vehicles and asphalt laying equipment including a road profiler, roller and paving machine.
The project team will ensure the number of machines operating at the same time is limited and equipment turned off when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used* and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum.
These works are designed to transform Canberra, making it more accessible and to provide greater commuter connectivity across an integrated public transport network. We appreciate the continued patience of the public and the support of the Canberra community as we carry out these works.
