Final asphalt laying works will be undertaken on Northbourne Avenue at the intersection of Ipima and Condamine Streets from 8:00pm to 6:00am Wednesday 10 April to Friday 17 April and again from Monday 15 April to Wednesday 17 April.
Traffic Management and Detours:
Condamine and Ipima Streets are currently closed at Northbourne Avenue. However, Ipima Street will reopen on or before 6:00pm Thursday 11 April and Condamine Street will reopen by Saturday 13 April. There will be additional traffic changes and detours for the asphalting works. These include:
- No right-turn into Ipima and Condamine Streets from Northbourne Avenue
- No right-turn onto Northbourne Avenue from Ipima and Condamine Streets
- No through access across Northbourne Avenue between Ipima and Condamine Streets
- Detour via U-turns at the Masson-Girrahween Streets (southbound) and Macarthur-Wakefield Avenue intersection (northbound).
The equipment to be used includes: road milling and asphalt laying equipment, road rollers, line marking equipment and trucks.
The project team will ensure the number of machines operating at the same time is limited and equipment turned off when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used* and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum.
These works are designed to transform Canberra, making it more accessible and to provide greater commuter connectivity across an integrated public transport network. We appreciate the continued patience of the public and the support of the Canberra community as we carry out these works.
