UPDATE: The day works program at Mort Street substation carpark will continue until Tuesday 1 May. From the 1st May, four nights of work are scheduled. Canberra Metro Construction and Transport Canberra are currently investigating the requirements for night works for Elouera Street to Northbourne Avenue, expected to commence at the start of May. For any questions call the construction information line on 1300 208 824 or email: cbr.communications@canberra-metro.com.au

The micro tunnelling work being undertaken presently to install a 1500mm diameter pipe in which to accommodate electrical cable from the Mort Street carpark substation along Elouera Street into Northbourne Avenue is progressing slowly due to the presence of rock. A change in ground conditions has resulted in a change in the work methodology and work time frame. Subsequently the current day time operations needs to be extended to out-of-hours operation.

The start of out-of-hours work at the carpark will occur from Wednesday 18 April to Saturday 5 May. Hours of operation will be 6:00pm to 7:00am. Please note, there will be no works during the day or evening on 25 April (Anzac Day).

Additional Information:
The equipment to be used includes a micro tunnel boring machine and associated equipment including an excavator to remove spoil. Due to the nature of the work, some of the activities will be noisy. The project team will limit these impacts wherever possible and turning off equipment when not in use. Non-tonal reversing beepers will be used and workers will be instructed to keep noise to a minimum.
