The Engineering Games are held in Canberra each year and are designed for students who love Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and activities.
This year’s games were proudly sponsored by Canberra Metro and held at UNSW Canberra, ADFA campus.
Straw Towers, Spaghetti Bridges and Mousetrap Racers were some of the elaborate structures created and entered by students from around schools in both NSW and ACT.
Volunteers from Canberra Metro Construction and Engineers Australia assisted with the judging and prizes awarded to the winners.
The winning school was Aranda Primary with over 30 prizes!
Other notable recipients were Gungahlin College receiving 15 awards and Canberra High with 11 awards.
A great night was had by current and future engineers!
Feedback from the night:
It was by far the best run games I have been to in my 3 years attending the event! The volunteers all did a stellar job, the catering for students and visitors was really appreciated and the venue was fantastic!
For our team, they had an absolute blast and the school can’t stop talking about it, so it was a very worthwhile activity to be involved with and I am fielding requests already for next year.
